“A Sense of Place”

Artist –  Clif Hunt  Title – Venice Sunset On The Grand Canal

Details: Clif will explore techniques and approaches for capturing the essence of a location through photography, and creating compelling images that convey a strong sense of place.

“A photograph that imbues a ‘sense of place’ captures the unique atmosphere, culture, and character of a location, allowing the viewer to experience and feel the essence of that place without being there.”

This type of photograph goes beyond just depicting a scene; it tells a story and evokes emotions associated with the location. A photographer combines the following elements of a scene (as needed for a particular image) to create a image that transports the viewer there, allowing them to experience the place’s unique essence “

Composition and Perspective
Lighting and Time of Day
Color and Mood
Details and Textures
Human Element
Cultural and Historical Context
Environmental Atmosphere

HCCC HOLIDAY DINNER

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 10, 2024

DETAILS & MENU TO FOLLOW

December ‘Holiday Dinner Program’

For those who don’t know, the club has traditionally chosen for many years to present a review of members’ photos at the annual Holiday Dinner. Each member who wishes to participate is asked to submit no more than 10 appropriately sized images which will be incorporated within a silently played ‘slide show’ during the dinner. The show will be designed to loop and will thus continue to play throughout the evening (commercial free! LOL). There will be no sound, other than the typical background holiday music. Each member’s photos will be displayed in alphabetical order, with an introductory slide featuring the artist’s name. The member’s name will also appear at the base of each photo. The photos are not limited to ‘holiday’ subjects but may be any personal work that the artist chooses. The member does not need to be present for his/her work to be included. Appropriately sized photos should be jpgs, 1500 pixels on the longest side, at 300 dpi, and no larger than 5MB.

The deadline this year will be November 1st to submit your 10 photos
