MARCH MACRO MADNESS

An Introduction to Macro Photography
Presenter, Patrick Dunn

Please join us at the monthly club meeting when Patrick Dunn will be presenting an intro to Macro Photography, covering concepts, techniques and equipment.

If you have, or have not done close-up photography, you will enjoy Patrick’s easygoing presentation of how to, and how to do better with your macro.

In his profession as an Architectural Designer, he has been photographing landscapes, structures, buildings, and interiors for many years. His photography skills are mostly self-taught, by attending many workshops and classes, but his images show true talent and a natural eye for finding interesting, peaceful and serene subjects. Examples of images captured by Patrick will be included, with explanations of how they were created.

March Photo Share – “No Rules”

Have you ever taken a photo that didn’t fit the typical rules for composition, yet you did not want to delete it for some reason? Maybe there are no leading lines in the photo or you cannot find a way to crop the photo to your satisfaction and fit the rule of thirds. Maybe you just violated your own photography rule while capturing an image. Yet, you are still proud of the image! This image would fit the requirement for the “No Rules” challenge.

Another example: wildlife photographers strive to capture hummingbirds with their brightly colored wings frozen in flight. I have an image I captured of a hummingbird with only beak and eyes in focus and very little color. I have kept the photo and shared it when I might have deleted it because it didn’t fit the classic Audubon picture.

To increase participation this month, I will add this interpretation to this topic. Have you captured an image of a rule being broken? You may interpret that idea as you wish. I’m hoping we can enjoy this odd topic and see a wide variety of images at our March meeting. Photo Share provides a great opportunity to inspire each other. Thank you in advance for your participation!
