“A Sense of Place”

Clif will explore techniques and approaches for capturing the essence of a location through photography, and creating compelling images that convey a strong sense of place.

“A photograph that imbues a ‘sense of place’ captures the unique atmosphere, culture, and character of a location, allowing the viewer to experience and feel the essence of that place without being there.”

This type of photograph goes beyond just depicting a scene; it tells a story and evokes emotions associated with the location. A photographer combines the following elements of a scene (as needed for a particular image) to create a image that transports the viewer there, allowing them to experience the place’s unique essence “

Composition and Perspective
Lighting and Time of Day
Color and Mood
Details and Textures
Human Element
Cultural and Historical Context
Environmental Atmosphere
