Macro Workshop – What to Expect
Our meeting in April will be a little bit different from our typical monthly meetings. This meeting will be a hands-on learning and experimenting extravaganza. Everyone will be taking part in the event.
We will have stations set up throughout the room with various objects to photograph. You may use your camera – no matter what kind of camera/lenses you use – to take macro images (1 to 1 ratio) of the various objects. We may have a couple of cameras set up with tools such as a macro rail set up where you may place your own SD card and take a couple of images and learn about the tools. Several members have offered to bring lighting and background equipment for this event.
The intention of this workshop is for members to work with each other and share knowledge about processes and the art of photography. We are not expecting everyone to leave the meeting with an impressive portfolio of macro images. We are expecting everyone to leave with a few pieces of information, a bit more confidence, or maybe just a few more friends interested in photography.
What Should I Bring to the Macro Workshop?
SD Card
Camera
If available:
Macro Lens
Extension tube(s)
Tripod(s)
Close-up lens filter
light(s)
Any other tool you wish to show/share with others
Interesting subject matter
Backdrop(s)
You are welcome to email me at [email protected] to let me know about something you think we could use for this workshop so I could coordinate the setup that evening.

“Mammals”
Mammals – warm-blooded vertebrates that nourish their young with milk secreted by
mammary glands.
Because we will be having a macro photography workshop which will consume much of our meeting time, this month’s Photo Share presentation will be different. There will be
no discussion of the images. I will not be including names or titles in the slide presentation. Each image will have a number and we will have meeting participants vote for their favorite image by number only. There will be no open category either. I am anticipating many participants this month due to the topic and the opportunity to present photos anonymously. The Photo Share presentation will be set up as a repeating slide show in its own station as part of the workshop. Members will have an opportunity to view the show and submit a ballot throughout the evening.
Please send photos to

by
Sunday, April 14th.
Please state the titles of your photos in the text of your email.
Current Paid Members – please submit 2 photos in the topic category only (Mammals).
Please send photos to [email protected] by Sunday, April 14th. Image size should be small enough to send by email – usually 1500-2400 pixels on the long side.
Label photos as: mammals1.yourname.jpeg mammals2.yourname.jpeg
Additionally, if you participated in the field trip in March (light painting at Stonehenge) or in April (Wildseed Farms) please send me an image to place in a short slide show highlighting the events. Please send those images in a separate email to avoid confusing them with the Photo Share submissions. These images will be presented before the May Photo Share presentation, so I will be asking for them again in the May newsletter.
