“Seeing in Black and White”

Ferguson.webp
Presented by J. Reagan Ferguson

Experience the beauty of black and white photography from a master of the form. Learn about the work flow and the tools required to take an image from camera to print. Mr. Reagan will use visual aids to explain how colors convert into B&W, how to take color raw files over to Photoshop, and then demonstrate his go-to tool for creating the final B&W image.

As a bonus, lean about a free app to download on your phone to make phone image
adjustments and convert to BW (or color/HDR). It’s a great way to help train the eye to see BW.

BIOGRAPHY:
Reagan, a 5th generation Texan born in San Antonio, spent his childhood and professional career in Fort Worth, until he and his wife (Kathleen) moved to the Texas hill country in 2016.

While primarily a self-taught photographer, Reagan was a talented artist in multiple mediums in his younger years. He started using a camera in his teens, and discovered “painting with light” opened up a whole new world of artistic expression.

His passion for photography has always been creating monochrome landscapes
and architecture, but he has developed a greater appreciation over time to photographing the simple beauty of fine art, utilizing achromatic or chromatic colors, and genres.

His winning portfolios and individual images have appeared in multiple editions of
Black and White Magazine, the Texas State Fair, Texas Tech University “High and Dry”, and numerous other photography exhibits and publications. He has won Master Photographer of the Year numerous times in photography clubs, and competitions. You may discover his art in various businesses throughout Texas.
